Mehmet Canayaz is an Assistant Professor of Finance at the Smeal College of Business, Penn State University. He holds BA and MA degrees from New York University and a DPhil in Financial Economics from the University of Oxford. He has authored scholarly articles in Law & Finance and International Finance, examining the effectiveness of U.S. trademark protections against foreign counterfeiters for American firms, the implications of bid protests in U.S. government procurement, and the role of reputation in the business operations of multinational companies. His recent research explores the repercussions of economic protectionism on the chip manufacturing industry, the ethical and technical standardization of artificial intelligence (AI), the impact of litigation risk on the small business environment, and the financial consequences of China's Belt and Road Initiative.
